Fine dining is about experience as much as food and every friction point in service, however small, chips away at that experience. A POS that slows down a sommelier mid-recommendation, or produces an invoice that doesn't reflect the elegance of the evening, is a problem even if the guest never consciously notices it.
Our client operated fine dining restaurants where the existing POS was a generic system designed for casual dining. It had no concept of course sequencing, wine flight pairing, tasting menu management, or the kind of detailed guest preference tracking that distinguishes truly exceptional hospitality. Reservations were managed in a separate system that didn't communicate with the POS, meaning the front-of-house team had no unified view of a guest's evening from booking to billing.
They needed a POS built to the same standard as the food it was serving.

We built a Fine Dining POS and Guest Experience System using React.js and Node.js, designed specifically around the precision, pacing, and personalization that define high end restaurant service. Unlike conventional POS systems focused on speed and volume, this platform is built to support hospitality as a craft, where timing, discretion, and guest memory are just as important as operational accuracy.
At the core of the system is course and tasting menu management, which enables multi course dining experiences to be orchestrated with precise sequencing and kitchen timing controls. Each guest’s dining journey can be managed individually at the table level, allowing chefs and floor staff to adjust pacing in real time. Dietary substitutions and special requests are tracked per guest without disrupting the flow of service, ensuring that personalization never comes at the cost of coordination or timing in the kitchen.
We implemented a wine program integration module tailored specifically for sommelier use. This includes a structured digital wine list with intelligent pairing suggestions linked to each dish on the menu. It also supports real time by the glass and bottle inventory tracking, ensuring availability is always accurate during service. The cellar management system gives staff full visibility into stock aging, rotation, and availability, allowing the sommelier to focus on guest experience rather than manual tracking.
A key part of the system is guest profiles and preference tracking, designed to elevate personalization across repeat visits. The platform stores detailed guest information including dietary requirements, allergies, preferred wines, seating preferences, anniversary dates, and historical visit notes. This allows front of house teams to anticipate guest needs before arrival. When a returning guest is seated, staff already understand their preferences, creating a sense of familiarity and recognition that is essential in fine dining environments.
The system is fully integrated with reservation management, ensuring that all bookings flow directly into the POS and operational view. Each reservation carries structured data such as table assignments, party size, arrival time, and special occasion flags. This information is immediately visible to both floor managers and service staff, reducing communication gaps and ensuring that every service begins with complete context.
For execution on the floor, we developed a tableside ordering interface on iPad that is intentionally minimal, refined, and unobtrusive. Unlike traditional POS systems, this interface is designed to reflect the elegance of fine dining service rather than a transactional checkout experience. It allows staff to capture orders discreetly while maintaining eye contact and engagement with guests, preserving the atmosphere of the dining room.
We also built a bespoke invoice and billing system that generates beautifully formatted bills aligned with the restaurant’s brand identity. This extends attention to detail beyond the dining experience itself and into the final guest touchpoint. Every invoice is designed to feel intentional and premium, reinforcing the overall perception of quality and care.
Finally, the platform supports private dining and event management, including custom tasting menu creation, deposit tracking, and structured invoicing for private rooms and chef’s table experiences. These high value bookings require a higher level of coordination, and the system ensures they are managed with the same precision as standard service, while still allowing flexibility for bespoke guest requirements.
Overall, the system transforms fine dining operations into a fully coordinated experience layer where every detail is connected. From pre arrival guest knowledge to real time service orchestration and post dining billing, every step is intentional, consistent, and aligned with the identity and standards of the restaurant.
